TIEHL constructs new division alignments

Compiled by U18 Hockey News Staff
TIEHL adds five new teams to U18 division

As we know, Tier 1 Elite Hockey League had to reconstruct their league after some of youth hockey's most historical and prestigious teams deserted the league. The Detroit division lost powerhouses Honeybaked, Little Caesars, and Compuware to the HPHL. While, the Chicago division saw Chicago Mission, Team Illinois, and Chicago Young Americans leave for the HPHL too.

Even though those six organizations are almost irreplaceable, TIEHL did a good job finding competitive teams to fill those voids.

DC Capitals were NAPHL playoff champions and co-regular season champs during the 2011 season, and qualified for Nationals at the end of the year. DC Capitals will definitely be contenders in the Atlantic division.

Oakland Jr. Grizzlies join state-rivals Belle Tire and Victory Honda in the Great Lakes division alongside the Cleveland Barons. Oakland will enjoy consistently playing quality programs Victory Honda and Belle Tire, while not traveling far distances to do so.

TPH Thunder have quietly grown more competitive over the last few years in every age category, showing hockey in the Southeast is growing. TPH Thunder U16 team reached Nationals last year, and TPH Thunder U18 team had a solid season in the NAPHL. However, TPH is in a division with the Ohio Jr. BlueJackets, Pittsburgh Hornets and Buffalo Jr. Sabres (formerly Buffalo Regals). This division covers a wide geographical region, and lots of travel will be involved for TPH.

Milwaukee Jr. Admirals seem to be the perfect fit into the Mid-West division. The Jr. Admirals sit perfectly between division foes Chicago Fury and Madison Capitols. St. Louis Blues complete the Mid-West division and will provide tough competition for the other clubs.

The last newcomer to TIEHL is Rocky Mt. Roughriders who will complete a Rocky Mountain division which includes in-state foes Colorado Rampage, Colorado Thunderbirds, and Kansas City's Russell Stover. Roughriders have the luxury of facing fellow Colorado rivals, however it seems Russell Stover has been put it an unlucky situation with lots of travel to Colorado.
