Quarterfinals set at Motor City Cup

The higher quality of teams are placed in Pool B of the Motor City Cup, and after round robin play has been completed the quarterfinals and consolation games have been set. 5 HPHL teams make up the quarterfinals, one TIEHL team, and two independent teams. One of the independent teams is the Michigan high school all star teams from the MDHL and the independent Dallas Ice Jets team from Texas who qualified after beating Lansing Capitals 2-0. Both the independent teams grabbed the two second place wildcard spots for the quarterfinals, they beat out second place teams Belle Tire, Phoenix Firebirds, Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Pittsburgh Viper Stars.

Colorado league announces schedule for upcoming season

Colorado Amateur Hockey Association has announced the schedule for their upcoming regular season. CAHA is comprised of four Tier I 18U AAA hockey teams. Colorado Thunderbirds and Colorado Rampage will begin another season in the TIEHL, while Pikes Peak Miners are members in the NAPHL for the third straight season. However, Rocky Mountain Roughriders are transferring their membership after one year in the NAPHL to the TIEHL, giving three teams from Colorado in the TIEHL. Colorado Thunderbirds have experienced dominance in the TIEHL for years, claiming the regular season and playoff championship last year while advancing to Nationals. The other three teams are looking to topple the Thunderbirds and claim a regular season and playoff championship. CAHA's opening weekend is September 24th and 25th, as the Thunderbirds and Rampage play a home & home series.

California Amateur Hockey Association announces schedule for '11-'12 season

California Amateur Hockey Association recently released their official regular season schedule for the 2011-12 season. The league is comprised of five teams, one less from last years league. Orange County Hockey Club, San Jose Jr. Sharks, and California Titans are members of the NAPHL too, while LA Hockey Club and LA Jr. Kings are league members with TIEHL. San Jose Jr. Sharks are the only team from Northern California, while the others reside in Southern California. Last year, LA Jr. Kings claimed the regular season championship, however the San Jose Jr. Sharks won the state playoff championship. San Jose Jr. Sharks and former California Stars team from Ontario, CA advanced to the Pacific District Championships after their performances at the state championships. California beat the Junior Sharks in the District Championship to advance to the USA Hockey Nationals. The first weekend of league play begins on September 24th with California Titans hosting the LA Jr. Kings, while Orange County Hockey Club travels to the Bay area for a two game series versus SJ Jr. Sharks.

NJ Devils, G. Boston Jr. Bruins, Hatfield Ice Dogs, Freeport Arrows claim division titles at Labor Day Face-Off

19 North/South Division
New Jersey Devils National came out champions of the 19 North/South Division at the Massachusetts Labor Day Face-Off in Boston. Devils finished second place in the South division to qualify for the semifinals. NJ Devils then upset South division first place team South Shore Dynamos 3-0. NJ Devils came back to defeat Valley Jr. Warriors 2-1 in the championship game after losing to the Warriors earlier in round robin play.

19 East/West Division
A loaded 19 East/West Division with lots of quality teams made this a competitive division. A national semi-finalist from last year, Greater Boston Jr. Bruins took down cross town rival Boston Little Bruins 3-2 for the championship. Greater Boston Jr. Bruins went undefeated in the tournament going 5-0 in the round robin, and added another two victories in the semifinals and championship. A great tournament victory for last years Massachusetts champion will probably land them a spot in the top 10 national rankings.

18 East/West Division
Hatfield Ice Dogs have been a national powerhouse for the last few years at the Tier II division. And they proved they can compete with other Tier 1 teams by claiming the 18 East/West Division title. Hatfield only suffered one loss during the seven game tournament, and took down Boston Advantage 18U split team in the semifinal round before dispatching Foxboro Stars in the championship game.

18 North/South Division
Freeport Arrows from New York is a Tier II team who captured the North/South Division championship. Freeport finished the tournament 6-0 and starts the season off on the right note.

Wolves emerge as SJ Jamboree Labor Day Champs & Pacific district front runners

The Alaska Wolves captured the San Jose Jamboree Labor Day tournament hosted by the Junior Sharks. After a quick pull out of the tournament by Wenatchee Jr. Wild, the tournament field was shortened from five teams to six teams. Alaska Wolves claimed first place with an undefeated record in five games, 4-0-1. Alaska's only non-victory was a tie with the second place California Titans, by a 2-2 score. Five of the Pacific District ten teams were represented from the tournament. Alaska outscored its opponents throughout the tournament by a 24-6 margin, and this included a 9-2 blasting of the second place California Titans. Wolves' performance at the San Jose Jamboree Labor Day tournament definitely makes them a contender for the Pacific District championship in March. 

Tournament teams & schedule released from Little Caesars Motor City Cup

One of the biggest tournaments during the regular season, Little Caesars Motor City Cup is comprised of 44 teams this year from across the United States. There is two conferences, or also defined as pools. The higher quality teams have been placed in Pool B, where 28 of the tournament teams have been placed. The other 16 teams sit in Pool A. Each pool with have eight teams move onto the quarterfinals and play out to a championship, each pool will have a champion team. Pool A's quarterfinalists will be teams finishing second and first in their divisions. Pool B's quarterfinalists will be determined by all the first place division winners, and two additional wild card teams.
